Professor Vanessa Latarche
Famous pianist and pedagogue Professor Vanessa Latarche, has been Head of Keyboard at the Royal College of Music in London, UK since 2005.
Vanessa’s recital and concerto work has taken her to Europe, USA and to the Far East. Her interest in Bach led to a performance of the complete 48 Preludes and Fugues at the Lichfield International Festival, the performances being given over four consecutive evenings. This year she performed in the First International Lang Lang Futian Piano Festival in China.
She has broadcast for over 30 years for BBC Radio 3 and has also broadcast extensively on the BBC World Service and BBC Radio 4. She has appeared many times on TV documentaries, and has she has been a juror for numerous worldwide international piano competitions in Russia, Estonia, Hong Kong, China, USA, UK, Serbia, Italy and New Zealand.
Vanessa travels worldwide to give masterclasses at such institutions as the Tchaikovsky Moscow Sate Conservatory, Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, Tokyo College of Music, Beijing Central Conservatory, and Seoul National University. She is also a frequent visitor to, Lang Lang Music World, Lang Lang’s music school in Shenzhen, China where she is Vice- Chairman.
With many international piano competition prize-winners amongst her students, Vanessa was nominated for the FRCM, Fellowship of the Royal College of Music, for outstanding services to music which was conferred on her by HRH The Prince of Wales in May 2010. In September 2011, Vanessa was appointed to the role of Personal Chair at the RCM, which has given her the title of Professor of International Keyboard Studies. Vanessa is also a Moderator and Trainer of examiners for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music internationally.
