Swedish soprano Camilla Tilling has enjoyed a top flight career spanning more than two decades. Current season concert highlights include Haydn’s Nelson Mass with the London Symphony Orchestra and François-Xavier Roth, Peter Sellars’ staging of Bach’s St John Passion with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem with Orchestre National de Lyon and David Zinman, and Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Sakari Oramo in Tokyo. Other recent concert highlights include Dutilleux’s Correspondances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Salonen, Mahler’s Symphony No.4 with Orchestre de Paris and Thomas Hengelbrock, Schumann’s Faustszenen with NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester under Hengelbrock, and Bach’s Mass in B minor with the Wiener Symphoniker under Philippe Jordan.
A successful debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) was the start of a relationship which has seen her return to London as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Dorinda (Orlando), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Arminda (La finta giardiniera), Gretel (Hansel und Gretel) and most recently as Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) – a role she has also performed for San Francisco Opera, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Bayerische Staatsoper and Opéra national de Paris. Camilla Tilling has appeared at The Metropolitan Opera as both Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Nannetta (Falstaff), at Opéra national de Paris and Teatro alla Scala as Ilia (Idomeneo), and she’s performed the role of Sophie at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre, La Monnaie and at the Munich Opera Festival. She’s also enjoyed success as the Governess (The Turn of the Screw) for Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice) at Salzburg Mozartwoche, Donna Clara (Der Zwerg) at Bayerische Staatsoper, and l’Ange (Saint François d’Assise) for Dutch National Opera. She’s appeared as Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande) at Madrid’s Teatro Real, Semperoper Dresden and with the Los Angeles Philharmonic; and she recently debuted the role of Contessa (Le nozze di Figaro) at Drottningholms Slottsteater and at Royal Swedish Opera. This season Camilla Tilling returns to Stockholm for her role debut as Blanche de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) under Marc Soustrot, and she also performs the role of Mélisande for Finnish National Opera under Esa-Pekka Salonen.
